The Call to Sanctification, Pt. 3
February 26, 2012 Speaker: Brent Small
Passage: 1 Thessalonians 4:9–4:12
In this sermon podcast on 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12, Pastor Brent continues his call to sanctification by delivering “4” witnesses to a godly Christian testimony.
As Paul continues to call the Thessalonians to excel in their sanctification, he confronts them with four additional aspects of their conduct that need further improvement. These areas included their continued pursuit of love for the brethren, aspiring to lead a peaceful life, minding their own business and also to work with their own hands. Why was Paul so concerned about these areas of their life? His purpose in calling them to excel in these areas was to insure that they maintained a godly Christian testimony to the world.
Paul is concerned that the Thessalonians pursue sanctification because it was God’s will for them; however, Paul was also concerned that they pursue sanctification because it directly impacted their testimony. In this message, Pastor Brent unpacks Paul’s exhortations by delivering “4” witnesses to a godly testimony: love, peace, discipline, and work.
