3 Necessary Components of Prayer

February 2, 2014 Speaker: Brent Small Series: Independent Sermons

Topic: Prayer Passage: Colossians 1:3–1:12

In this sermon podcast on Colossians 1:3-12, Pastor Brent informs our prayer life with three “necessary components” of prayer so that our prayer life will be effective in the worship of God.

In order to equip believers to live out the Christian life, the LORD has given us the gift and tool of prayer. Prayer can take many forms. In prayer we can praise God, give thanks, confess sin, offer our requests and plead with Him to see His will accomplished on this earth. As we engage in prayer as believers, these are the forms that make up our prayers.

However, the form of prayer is only one aspect of our prayer life. If our prayers are to be effective in the worship of God and for our own edification, we must engage all of the necessary components of prayer. Often times we can overemphasize the forms to the neglect of the other components that make our prayers and prayer life effective and successful.
Therefore, we as believers must evaluate our prayer life in the mirror example of the Apostle Paul. The Apostle models and teaches us in the book of Colossians and in the New Testament as a whole that our prayers must be persistent, purposeful and a priority.

In this message, Pastor Brent informs our prayer life with these necessary components so that our prayers will be effective in the worship of God.
