Topic: Christ Passage: Colossians 3:1–3:4
In this sermon podcast on Colossians 3:1-4, Pastor Brent challenges the believers with three “action steps” that enable one to live a Christ-Centered Life.
In Colossians chapter 3, the Apostle Paul challenges the Colossians and all believers to turn their theology into practice. The Colossian believers had been transformed through the saving work of the gospel and were now united to Christ by faith. However, false teachers had invaded the church and began to teach worldly and empty philosophies trying to persuade the Colossians away from Christ.
The Apostle Paul writes to warn the Colossian believers of these heresies which called for the believers to add something else to Christ to truly be saved and enlightened. They had received Christ and were complete in Him.
However, as Paul warned the Colossians, he also reminded them that they had received Jesus Christ as Lord. Christ, at salvation, had invaded their hearts and was now Lord of their lives. This truth or theology had implications for their lives. The Colossians and all believers must now live with Christ at the center of their lives. He must be the one ruling their lives.
Therefore, in chapter three, the Apostle Paul calls the Colossians to live the Christ-centered life by reprogramming their hearts and minds with godly affections and thinking. They must reflect on their new life in Christ and seek heavenly affections and become heavenly minded through the Word of God.
In this message, Pastor Brent challenges all believers to engage in this process by implementing three action steps as outlined by the Apostle Paul.
