The New Testament uses the analogy of a human body to describe the church. In 1 Corinthians 12:27, the Apostle Paul states, “Now you are Christ’s body and individually members of it.” The analogy is powerful. The local church is a living body. This body, as with the human body, is dependent on all of the members to be a healthy functioning body. And, inversely, each member is dependent on the body for its own life and vitality. It is this picture given the by Apostle Paul that makes church membership so important to the local church.

At Cascades Bible Church, we prioritize a formal church membership process to ensure that we maintain a healthy church body and also to ensure that each member is a healthy, functioning member of the body. How does church membership foster a healthy church body? By committing in formal membership, a believer signals their commitment to the body of Christ, affirms the church’s doctrine and philosophy, places himself under the shepherding care of its leaders and seeks to serve in ministry with accountability and the discipleship of others.

We believe the local church must prioritize and herald church membership. If you are interested in becoming a member of Cascades Bible Church, you can begin the process by picking up a membership packet from one of our ushers on a Sunday morning. The membership packet includes the application as well as a copy of our church constitution and bylaws. You can then return the completed application to one our elders, who will then set a time for a membership interview.
